Mini Golf Wonderland With Bar and Food Trucks Opens in Mission Bay

Stagecoach Greens is an elaborate, 18-hole fantasia
It’s almost tee time at Stagecoach Greens, an 18-hole mini golf course, bar, and food truck park opening tomorrow, August 17th in Mission Bay. The seriously intricate course, with miniature versions of SF landmarks, tables for dining, cabanas for chilling, and space for five food trucks, is located in a previously empty lot at 1379 4th Street.
The lot is adjacent to existing food truck park Spark Social, and like that space, it’s a project of Parklab, which also operates sites like SoMa Streat Food. They’ve developed a reputation for giving life to unused lots in need of interim use — some slated for development, or in the case of the 1379 4th Street space, bound to become permanent park space.
Jan and Esther Stearns, a couple of retired mini golf fanatics, are the visionaries behind Stagecoach Greens itself. “They’re the most passionate people about mini golf I’ve ever met in my life,” Parklabs founder Carlos Muela says of the Stearns. Jan and Esther have three children, and say some of their best family memories have been over mini golf.
The 18-hole golf course takes its theme from San Francisco’s cycles of boom and bust. Fabricators like One Hat One Hand of the Bayview realized the designs, which include the Chinatown Dragon Gate in miniature, a Gold Rush era saloon, and the Salesforce Tower and the Transamerica Pyramid as dueling Rock ’Em Sock ’Em robots.
Five food trucks from the Parklabs stable will be stationed at StageCoach Greens. Hookt Donuts, Jeepney Guy, and newcomer Al Pastor Papi from chef Miguel Escobedo will be there permanently, with two more rotating trucks in the mix. A bar, punnily dubbed “The Watering Hole,” will serve adult refreshments.
Starting tomorrow, Stagecoach Greens is open 7 days a week, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with $8 tickets for kids and $16 tickets for adults available at the course or online in advance.
